IBM’s Privacy Chief urges Asia to play it forward
IBM’s Privacy Chief, Harriet Pearson, urges a forward-looking approach for Asian regulators when it comes to data privacy. In an Interview with ZDNet Asia, Pearson admonishes that regulators “wouldn’t you want to leap ahead, anticipate the direction and then enact laws and policies that try to support growth while protecting people? Why would you want to photocopy a model that has been the subject of a lot of study about how it does not necessarily keep up?” European laws should not be copied because “policies and laws will always be behind what humans and technology are doing.”
